How to:


Open a file:

Click the Open button, command + O or via the file menu Open.


Open a file from a web site:

Click the Web button, command+I or via the file menu Web and enter the complete location of the file.

If PageSector can access the site, files are saved in: Documents/PageSector/Web/


Save text:

After editing the text, click save(or File-Save, or command + s) to to bring up the Save as window.


Editing Text:

After opening a text file click the Locked button to unlock the text display to edit the text.

*** Note editing the text may affect the bookmarks. ***


Add Notes:

First a text file must be open. Next click the notes button to open the notes window. Enter some text. Notes are automatically saved when the window is closed. Notes are saved in: Documents/PageSector/Notes/

Notes are named after the currently opened text file and are "linked" with that file in PageSector.


To View Notes:

Click the Notes button to open the Notes window. If notes are avaible they will dispalyed in the notes window.


Add Sections (bookmarks): 

Highlight some text or just click in the text area, then you can either use the Add Button, Command + B(or shift + command + b) or right click then Add or *Auto Add. A window will popup asking you to enter a name, with exception to Auto Add. If you have highlighted some text, that text will be displayed in the name field. Click Ok to continue or Cancel if you do not want a section name. The name entered will appear in the list box. 


* If you choose "Auto Add" (by right clicking in the text area), it will be directly add to the Sections list. 


*If you press shift + command + B  it will "Auto Bookmark", that is, directly place a bookmark in the Section list, provided you have selected some text.


*** Note - the bookmark name DOES NOT have to match anything in the text. ***


You can have as many section names as you wish.


Return to a section of text:

Click on a name in the Sections list will take you to that spot in text. 


Remove bookmarks:

Click on one of the items in the list, then either click the delete

button or right click then Delete or Delete All. Delete All will remove all from the Sections list.  


Saving Bookmarks:

After adding or removing bookmarks, click the save button, command + s or goto 

File-> Menu and select Save. If you have not  saved and go to quit the program or load a text file, a message will appear asking if you wish to save before you continue. Clicking Yes will do the save for you and continue, Cancel will continue and won't save.  


Edit Bookmarks:

You can rename the bookmarks in the section list just double click, change the info then press enter. You can also rearrange the bookmarks. Just click and drag. Be sure to save when all done and it will save them in the order you have chosen.


History Menu:

As new text files are opened they get added to the History file. When PageSector opens it will list perviously opened files in the History menu. From there you can open those files. To delete items from the History, Command + H  (or goto Options and select Edit History) will bring up the History window, select an item from the list and press Delete . Once deleted, it will be gone from the History.


Search:

Pressing Command + F (or go to the Options menu and select Find) will bring up a window to let you search for text within the file you are viewing. You must have opened a file before you can do a search. If you Highlight some text and do a find, that text will entered in the Find window for you.


Change font size:

The font size can be changed via the Font Size button or can set the default size in the preference window. Changing the font size may cause issues with bookmarks. Readjusting the size of the PageSector window my be required. 


Changing default window size, font and font size:

Goto the Preference window(PageSector-> Preferences..., or command + , ) 

There you can change the default window size, font and font size for the text area and Sections list.


Auto Adjust:

If you have bookmarks and you resize the window and the bookmarks do not take you to the correct place, select Auto Adjust from the Options menu to adjust the window so the bookmarks will work correctly.
