Using the Inspector

The Inspector (Figure 1) is what lets you bend SaveMe to your will. You get to customize how you want SaveMe to save files in different programs, and whether you'd like SaveMe to prompt you first before saving.

Figure 1: The Inspector

For example, if you wanted to have SaveMe automatically save your TextEdit files every half hour, you'd follow this procedure:

  1. Choose Show Inspector from SaveMe's menu.
  2. Open TextEdit.
  3. In the left-hand pop-up menu of the Inspector, choose Save.
  4. In the right-hand pop-up menu of the Inspector, choose 30 Minutes (Figure 2).
  5. Click Done.
  6. (Optional step: If you'd like SaveMe to ask you before it saves your files, turn on the "Prompt before saving" checkbox.)
Figure 2: Customizing SaveMe for TextEdit

You can repeat this process for all the programs you use—so TextEdit saves its documents every 30 minutes, for instance, while Photoshop saves its documents every 2 hours. Some newer Mac OS X programs even allow you to save all open documents at once (using the Save All command); in those programs, SaveMe can automate that, too, by letting you choose Save All from the Inspector's left-hand pop-up menu.

When you're done customizing the automatic-saving features for each of your programs, click Done in the Inspector, or just choose Hide Inspector from SaveMe's menu. You can always bring the Inspector back to change your program-specific saving preferences.
