Description

If you’re fastidious about keeping your windows tidy, Stay is for you. Stay ensures that your windows are always where you want them to be, even as you connect and disconnect displays.

Move your windows to where you want them, then have Stay store them. Once stored, windows can be returned to their stored state at any time by having Stay restore them.

Stay can store a set of windows for every combination of displays that you use with your computer.

For example, if you have a laptop that is sometimes connected to an external monitor, you can store two sets of windows in Stay; one with the external monitor connected and one without. This done, you’ll be able to ensure that your windows are always where you want them to be by having Stay restore windows whenever you connect or disconnect the external monitor.

Stay can even be configured to automatically restore windows as displays are connected and disconnected.

Not fully working in El Capitán and self-damaged!

It used to be fine until the upgrade to El Capitán.

It does not restore windows for iTunes and Safari properly. I suspect that it could be due to the song being played at the time and the tab focused in Safari.

But what really makes me sad is that this app damages itself probably on purpose. When I was using my Macbook on the train, the system prompted me to enter my Apple ID username and password because it was required by this App. I don’t remember the exact wording, but it’s like “Stay requires you to enter your Apple ID and password to use it.” But without a WiFi on the train, I dismissed the Apple ID prompt. When I got hom, I was no longer able to use it. It returned an error code 173, and the system said: “Stay” is damaged and can’t be opened. Delete “Stay” and download it again from the App Store.

I believe that it was checking the license and disabled itself when it couldn’t do it. But for God’s sake, who’s always on the internet?! Shouldn’t it try again before returning that error code?

Doesn't support multiple spaces

It kind of half works when using only one desktop space, but honestly, who does that? I expected it to work as advertised, but when I restore windows it just populates the current screen with windows I had previously opened on other spaces. Also it sometimes takes forever to memorise the windows, spinning and spinning. Not every time though. Feels a bit like a waste of my twenty three Aussie dollars. Not sure it's still actively in development. is it still actively in development?

Sort of works

I created, sized and positioned
- 3 Finder windows
- 1 Safari window
- 1 Transmission window

Saved the window.
Deleted a window and tried to restore but deleted window did not reapear.
Same set up and moved windows around. Restore returned windows to original location.
Same set up but this time restarted machine. Tried to restore windows but no windows restored.

Appears only able to save one configuration.

How do I get my money back !
