Preferences

The preferences dialog has the sections Points, Countries, Grapes, Taste, Odour, Labels and Misc.

Points

You can setup your preferred wine point system. When you start "Wine XT" the first time, it use
the following scheme:

If you wish to use total points like 17.5, then set the point step to 0.5 . It’s very important, that you make this setup before you use the point popup menus for a wine, because the program can’t recalculate all point systems to another. (Example: A wine has 16.5 points. When you change the point system to point step = 1, the value will be rounded to 17 points, and you loose some information.)

Countries

The application use a country popup menu in some dialogs. In this section you can choose the countries for the country menu. Every country on the list has a check box. When you mark a box, the country will be included in the country menu.

Grapes

If you wish to add a grape to the grape list, used for the grape menu in the “Wine Editor” and “Address Editor”, then use this preferences section. Click on the “Add” button, double click on the new list item and then edit the grape. To remove a grape, select the grape on the list an click on the “Remove” button. Or you can change the grape name. Select the grape with a double click and make your changes.

If you mean, you don’t need a grape, you can deselect the check box of the grape. The grape is now in the grape list, but it’s not included in the grape menus.

Taste

If you wish to add a taste term to the taste list, used for the "other taste" menu in the “Wine Editor”, then use this preferences section. Click on the “Add” button, double click on the new list item and then edit the term. To remove a term, double click on the item on the list an click the “Remove” button. Or you can change the name. Select the item with a double click and make your changes .

Odour

If you wish to add a odour term to the odour list, used for the "other odour" menu in the “Wine Editor”, then use this preferences section. Click on the “Add” button, double click on the new list item and then edit the term. To remove a term, double click on the item on the list an click the “Remove” button. Or you can change the name. Select the item with a double click and make your changes .

Labels

Some fields are reserved for custom points or given from wine magazines. You can change the labels to your favorite magazin.

Misc

Choose the currency for all of your future purchase entries. The list include the currencies of the world.

If you wish to send your addresses and tasting notes to the internet database iDB, mark the check box "send data to iDB".
