Shortcuts:

Rearrange the menus by ⌘Command-dragging them.

Selecting a folder (a menu item with a sub-menu) opens the folder in the Finder.

Create sub-folders in your menu folders to minimize menu sizes, time to load (sub-) menus and memory usage.

Move the mouse over the menu titles to get tooltips.

XMenu uses the icons of the target folders and files. So if you don't like them or want to accelerate XMenu, set the option Icons to None or use generic icons for folders or all items. Menu items of applications always use unique icons (ignoring the option 'Generic Icons').
Use modifier keys to perform different operations:

None:
Open file, launch application or insert snippet.

Control:
Show item (open parent folder in Finder and select file).

Shift:
Show original (open parent folder of original in Finder). If the selected item is not an alias, this is reveals the item.

Option:
Show original and hide current application.

Command:
Show info (in Finder).
